We’re Making Space for What’s Next: Home, Life & Systems in Transition

Seattle + Pacific Northwest

Hello friends — Kari here from Refine Organizing. I’m pulling up a space in our townhouse today to share something personal and professional: we’re expecting our first baby this spring! ✨

Cue all the feelings (and a healthy dose of “How are we going to make this work in our already‑full townhouse in Seattle?”).

Naturally, this has me re‑evaluating everything in our home with fresh eyes:

  • What do we actually need?

  • What can we let go of?

  • How do we make space for a tiny human without surrendering our entire home to Fisher‑Price plastic?

A Kitchen Reno for Life’s Next Chapter

Because life is funny that way — we realized it’s now or never on those kitchen renovations we’d been dreaming about. So yes, we’re redesigning our kitchen in the middle of this transition. Cabinets? Chosen. Installer? Lined up. Chaos? Let’s go!

This renovation isn’t just about countertops and hardware. It’s about creating a home system that supports our growing family and evolves beyond baby‑phase.

One of the First Moves: Home Office → Nursery

First logistical shift? I’m relocating my home office from upstairs into the lower‑level former guest room so the future nursery can be just steps from our bedroom. It’s a lot of puzzle pieces — and I genuinely love this part.

I’ve always been inspired by people who reconfigure their homes to match their lives. Now I get to document my own process.

Why I’m Sharing This

As a professional organizer and Certified KonMari Consultant based in the Pacific Northwest, I believe documenting the “messy middle” is just as valuable as the polished “after” photo. I’m starting a mini‑series: how a professional organizer reworks home for real life — thoughtfully, creatively, and hopefully with fewer single‑use baby gadgets. My goal: fewer things, more function, and systems that flex with our growing lives.

I’d Love Your Input

Would you rather follow along via:

  1. Short, snappy updates on Instagram?

  2. Longer‑form videos on YouTube with behind‑the‑scenes detail?

Send me a message at kari@refine-organizing.com if you have idea or want to be kept in the loop! Your feedback will help me shape how I share this journey.

What’s Next

Expect more soon — behind‑the‑scenes peeks, messy middle moments, and yes, probably some coconut‑water‑fueled late‑night design‑puttering. If you’re feeling the urge to re‑evaluate your home systems to match the life you really want, let’s connect. Because making space for what matters is always worth the effort.

Warmly,

Kari
